The definition of a pseudo-valued and totally valued real hyperfield was introduced by \textit{J. Mittas} [Riv. Mat. Pura Appl. 13, 7-33 (1993; Zbl 0848.26014)]. Let \((a_n)\) and \((b_n)\) be sequences of reals. Then their hypersum \((a_n)+ (b_n)= a_n\dotplus b_n\) is a hypersequence, i.e., a sequence of intervals \((I_n)\) or of unions of intervals \((-I_n\cup I_n)\). Two definitions of monotonicity are formulated for hypersequences; monotonicity with respect to inclusion and monotonicity with respect to the ordering of \(\mathbb{R}\). Both kinds of monotonicity of hypersequences are investigated. Necessary as well as sufficient conditions for monotonicity of both kinds are proved together with conditions for the convergence of hypersequences.
