Let \(D\) be a simply connected domain in \(\mathbb{C}\) and \(w= f(z)\) be a conformal mapping of \(B= \{z: |z|< 1\}\) onto. \(D\). The Poincaré metric \(\lambda_D(w)\) of \(D\) is defined by \[ \lambda_D(f(z))|f'(z)|= \lambda_B(z)= 1/(1- |z|^2),\qquad z\in B. \] In this paper, the authors gave a precise estimate of logarithmic derivative of \(f'\), a precise estimate of logarithmic gradient of the Poincaré metric for simply domains and an estimate for any domain. These results improved the corresponding results by \textit{B. G. Osgood} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 31, 449-461 (1982; Zbl 0503.30014)].
