In signal analysis the discovery of quadrature mirror filters (QMFs) which permits an input signal to split into two downsampled subband signals and then to reconstruct the input from the split channels without aliasing was a key step forward to the perfect reconstruction of two-channel filter banks [see \textit{M. Vetterli} and \textit{J. Kovačević}: ``Wavelets and subband coding''. Prentice Hall PTR, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey (1995)]. -- The purpose of the paper under review is to outline a general construction of an infinite-dimensional manifold of finite impulse response QMFs that works for data on a regular grid. Based on the terminology of Abelian harmonic analysis, the method follows the lines exposed in the author's monograph ``Wavelets. An analysis tool'' (1995; preceding review). Illustrative examples are the construction of an infinite parameter family of wavelets over \(\mathbb{Z}\) and for the quincux lattice inside the grid \(\mathbb{Z}^2\).
