[For part I see Zbl 0811.39003).] All real functions \(f\) are determined, under certain conditions, for which \(f(x + y) f(x - y)\) is a biquadratic polynomial of \(f(x)\) and \(f(y)\) (with constant coefficients) or a quadratic polynomial of \(f(y)\) (with coefficients depending on \(x)\). For the solution of the second equation the condition is continuity while for the first equation the crucial condition is, unexpectedly, that the cardinality of the codomain of \(f\) be greater than 22 (the author has no counterexamples between 2 and 22). As can be expected, the calculations are lengthy. Finally the functions \(f,g,h,k\) from the cartesian square of an abelian group divisible by 2 into a quadratically closed field of characteristic different from 2 are calculated, which satisfy the functional equation \(f(x + y) g(x - y) = h(x) + k(y)\) on a restricted domain.
