    Let \(k\) be a positive integer and \(c= 1/(2k)\). \textit{C. S. Davis} [J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 25, 497-502 (1978; Zbl 0393.10038)] proved that for any \(\varepsilon>0\), the inequality \[ | e^{1/k}- p/q|< (c+\varepsilon) d(q), \qquad d(q):= (\log\log q)/(q^ 2 \log q), \] has infinitely many solutions in integers \(p\) and \(q\). Further, there exists a number \(q'= q' (\varepsilon, k)\) such that \[ | e^{1/k}- p/q|> (c-\varepsilon) d(q) \] for all integers \(p\) and \(q\) with \(q\geq q'\). In this note an explicit lower bound for \(q'\) is given. As a sample we mention the following consequence: for all integers \(p\) and \(q\), with \(q\geq 2\), one has \(| e^{1/2}- p/q|> {1\over 6} d(q)\).
