Some results on central extensions of crossed modules (Q1348854)

Two classes of central extensions of a crossed module are studied: stem extensions and stem covers. The authors prove several results for central extensions of perfect crossed modules, by generalizing the classical ones for central extensions of groups. It is shown that stem extensions of a perfect crossed module \((M, P, \mu)\) are in bijective correspondence with the subcrossed modules of \(H_2(M, P, \mu)\) and that the lattice of subcrossed modules of \(H_2(M, P, \mu)\) is equivalent to the category of stem extensions of \((M, P, \mu)\).
