The author gives straightforward proofs of two results concerning the homology of fibrations. The first is due to Chachólski and asserts that if the injection of the fiber in the total space induces an isomorphism on homology, then the reduced homology of the base space is trivial. The other is Spivak's theorem on the existence of normal fibrations for Poincaré duality spaces. His point of view is to formulate the questions in terms of spectra equipped with the action of a topological group first, and then use standard equivariant techniques.
