Let \(T\) be a Lipschitz strongly pseudo-contractive selfmap of a real \(q\)-uniformly smooth Banach space \(E\) \((1<q<\infty)\). The author constructs certain Mann and Ishikawa iteration methods, proving that they converge strongly to a fixed point of \(T\) and, moreover, that they are stable in some sense. Related results are obtained for the construction of stable iteration procedures for solutions of accretive nonlinear equations. The results improve several convergence results recently obtained in fixed point theory.
