The \(d\)-dimensional classical Hardy space \(H_p(\mathbb{T}^d)\) is considered, and it is proved that the maximal operator of the Cesàro means of a distribution is bounded from \(H_p(\mathbb{T}^d)\) to \(L_p(\mathbb{T}^d)\) for every \((2d+1)/(2d+2)< p<\infty\), and is of weak type \((1,1)\), provided that the supremum in the maximal operator is taken over a positive cone. The proof is done in the more general framework of Hardy-Lorentz spaces \(H_{p,q}(\mathbb{T}^d)\). Since the \(d\)-dimensional trigonometric polynomials are dense in \(L_1(\mathbb{T}^d)\), hence a result of Marcinkiewicz and Zygmund follows immediately: If \(f\in L_1(\mathbb{T}^d)\), then the Cesàro mean \(\sigma_nf\to f\) a.e. as \(\min(n_1,\dots,n_d)\to\infty\) in such a way that for some \(\delta\geq 0\), we have \[ 2^{-\delta}\leq n_j/n_k\leq 2^\delta\quad\text{for }j,k=1,\dots,d. \] Analogous results are formulated for \((C,\beta)\) means, where \(\beta= (\beta_1,\dots,\beta_d)\) and \(0<\beta_k\leq 1\) for \(k=1,\dots,d\).
