Sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence and boundedness of positive periodic solutions for the planar Kolmogorov differential scheme: \[ dp/dt= p{\mathcal P}(t,p,q),\quad dq/dt= q{\mathcal Q}(t,p,g),\tag{1} \] where \({\mathcal P},{\mathcal Q}:\mathbb{R} \times\mathbb{R}_+^2\to\mathbb{R}\) are continuous functions, which are \(T\)-periodic in their first variable. The main existence result follows from topological degree via a-priori bounds for the \(T\)-periodic solutions of a one-parameter family of equations in which system (1) will be embedded. The authors adapt their main result to the periodic predator-prey Lotka-Volterra system. They generalize and unify some existence results by \textit{J. M. Cushing} [SIAM J. Appl. Math. 32, 82-95 (1977; Zbl 0348.34031)] and by \textit{T. Ding} and \textit{F. Zanolin} [Dynamical Systems, Proc. Nankay Conf. Program 55-65 (1993)].
