The authors investigate finite groups \(G\) in which each proper subgroup \(H\) of \(G\) is properly contained in its permutizer (i.e., the subgroup of \(G\) generated by all the cyclic subgroups of \(G\) that permute with \(H\)). The classification of finite simple groups is used to establish the solvability of \(G\) in Section 2. Then in Section 3 it is shown that these groups are almost supersolvable; specifically, each chief factor \(F\) of \(G\) has order a prime or 4, and if \(F\) has order 4 then \(G/C_G(F)\cong S_3\). The authors note that the converse of this result is not known to be true.
