Restrictions on nonlinear constitutive equations for elastic rods (Q1357192)

This paper is concerned with the constitutive behaviour of a rod-like body within the framework of nonlinear elasticity. In general, the resultant forces and moments of a rod depend on the constitutive equations for the three-dimensional rod material as well as on the rod geometry. The author formulates restrictions on the nonlinear constitutive equations in order to ensure consistency with exact nonlinear solutions of the corresponding three-dimensional equations for the case of all homogeneous deformations.
