Let \(L\) denote the set of real-valued Lebesgue measurable functions defined on \([0,1]\) and let \(L_\varphi =\{f\in L: \int^1_0 \varphi (|f|) <\infty\}\), where \(\varphi: [0, \infty) \to [0,\infty)\), \(\varphi \not \equiv 0\), \(\varphi (0)=0\), is a convex function that has the property \(\Delta_2\) i.e. there exist \(I_0>0\), \(K>0\) such that \(\varphi (2J)\leq K \varphi (y)\), for \(y\geq y_0\). In this paper the authors consider the set \(M_\varphi (f)\) of elements that minimize \(\int^1_0 \varphi (|f- g|)\) among the class of non-decreasing functions \(g\). A number of interesting results have been obtained. Towards the end they examine certain problems concerning an approximately continuous function \(f\).
