Generalized Cartan identities on isoparametric manifolds (Q1357876)

This paper gives a proof of the Cartan identity for the principal curvatures of an isoparametric hypersurface by using only the Codazzi equation and the Ricci identity. Therefore, in an abstract setting this identity is valid whenever a manifold carries a Codazzi tensor with constant eigenvalues and constant multiplicities. The author calls such a manifold an isoparametric manifold. It seems that, as a trivial case, every manifold is isoparametric if one chooses the metric tensor. Then the Cartan identity also becomes trivial. No new and nontrivial examples are given.
