The paper deals with the propagation of principal waves (longitudinal or transverse) in monotropic laminated bodies. The authors investigate in detail three types of longitudinal principal waves -- planar, cylindrical and spherical -- in the direction of the axis of monotropy or super monotropy. Likewise they study three types of transverse principal waves -- planar and cylindrical -- with the amplitude vector either circular or in the axial direction of the cylinder in the latter case. An analysis of the amplitude equations and the propagation conditions is presented, and the longitudinal principal waves are examined in a super monotropic laminated body. Finally, the authors indicate a relationship between the analysis of principal waves and some elastodynamic problems for laminated bodies.
