A local \(S\)-closed formation \(\mathcal F\) is called \({\mathcal H}_{ls}\)-critical or a minimal local \(S\)-closed non-\(\mathcal H\)-formation if \({\mathcal F}\not\subset{\mathcal H}\) but \({\mathcal F}_1\subseteq{\mathcal H}\) for every proper local \(S\)-closed subformation \({\mathcal F}_1\) of \(\mathcal F\). A formation \(\mathcal H\) is a formation of classical type if \(\mathcal H\) has a local screen all whose nonabelian values are local. The main result of the present article is the following theorem. Let \(\mathcal H\) be a local formation of classical type and let \(h\) be its maximal local inner screen. Then \(\mathcal F\) is a minimal local \(S\)-closed non-\(\mathcal H\)-formation if and only if \(\mathcal F\) is a local \(S\)-closed formation generated of \(G\), where \(G\) is a monolithic group with \(P^{\mathcal H}=G\) such that one of the following conditions is satisfied; (1) \(G=P^{\mathcal H}\) is a group of prime order; (2) \(P\) is a nonabelian group and \(G\) is a minimal non-\(h(p)\)-group for all \(p\in\pi(P)\); (3) \(G=P\leftthreetimes H\), where \(P=C_G(P)\) is a \(p\)-group and \(H\) is a minimal monolithic non-\(h(p)\)-group with monolith \(Q\) (\(p\) does not divide \(| Q|\)) of one of the following types: (a) \(\Phi(H)=1\); (b) a quaternion group of order 8; (c) a nonabelian group of order \(q^3\) for an odd prime exponent \(q\); (d) a cyclic primary group.
