The author's main result, Theorem A, treats solvable groups \(G\) of order \(mp^a\), \(p\) prime, \((m,p)=1\) and \(p^a>m\). Then either \(G\) has a characteristic subgroup of order exceeding \(p^a/m\) or \(p\) is restricted to one of three types and \(G/O_p(G)\) has a section isomorphic with one of a set of specified groups. The proof apparently does not make use of the work of either W. Burnside or V. S. Monakhov and, according to the author, clarifies the structure of the subgroups of Monakhov's Theorem 3.
