Let \(K= \mathbb{F}_q(T)\), (\(\mathbb{F}_q\) is a finite field) and \(\infty= 1/T\); set \(K_\infty= \mathbb{F}_q(1/T))\). Automorphic cusp forms of Drinfeld type can be viewed as some functions defined on the set of oriented edges of the Bruhat-Tits tree \(\tau\) of \(\text{GL}_2(K_\infty)\). The author gives a function field version of the notion of Poincaré series, defined on the set of oriented edges of \(\tau\), and then, he proves that they generate the space of automorphic cusp forms of Drinfeld type. Note that this is interesting because of the correspondence between elliptic curves over \(K\) with split reduction at \(\infty\) and automorphic cusp forms (Hecke newforms; i.e. the characteristic \(p\) version of the Shimura-Taniyama-Weil conjecture, which is a theorem).
