Consider the set \(\Delta_{\mu+\varepsilon}\) of nonnegative real solutions \((s_1,\dots,s_d)\) of the equation \[ s_1\alpha_1+\dots+s_d\alpha_d=\mu+\varepsilon, \tag{1} \] where \(\alpha_i\) and \(\mu\) are elements of the integer lattice \(\mathbb{Z}^n\) and \(\varepsilon\in \mathbb{R}^n\). This set is a convex polytope. Let \(\Delta^I_{\mu+\varepsilon}=\{ (s_1,\dots,s_d)\in\Delta_{\mu+\varepsilon}: s_i=0\text{ for }i\in I\}\) be its \(I\)th face. The author shows that if \(\mu\) is in general position with respect to \(\alpha_1,\dots,\alpha_d\), then, for \(\varepsilon\) small, the volume of \(\Delta^I_{\mu+\varepsilon}\) is a polynomial \(v^I(\varepsilon)\) of degree \(d-n-[I]\) in \(\varepsilon\). The number of nonnegative integer solutions of (\text{1}) is expressed as a combination of the polynomials \(v^I(\varepsilon)\) such that the coefficients of these combinations are some differential operators of infinite order. Connections of these results with the theory of Kawasaki-Riemann-Roch numbers for symplectic orbifolds are described.
