Given a connected complex semisimple Lie group \(G\), a real form \(G_0\) of \(G\), denote by \(D\) a \(G_0\)-open orbit in a generalized flag manifold \(Z\). The authors study the group of holomorphic diffeomorphisms of \(D(\text{Hol}(D))\). Their main result is as follows: Theorem. Under the above assumptions, (1) if there is a \(G_0\)-equivariant holomorphic fibration of \(D\) over the Hermitian symmetric space of \(G_0\) (and \(D\) is not the Hermitian symmetric space), then the group of holomorphic diffeomorphisms is not a finite-dimensional Lie group; (2) if no such fibration exists, then \(\text{Hol}(D)\) is a Lie group. Moreover, except for a listed set of cases, \(\text{Hol}(D)= G_0\) if \(G_0\) is non-compact and \(\text{Hol}(D)= G\), if \(G_0\) is compact. The authors also study the group of Hermitian isometries of \(D\). They find this group to be (1) \(\text{Hol}(D)\) if \(G_0\) is non-compact or (2) a compact real form of \(\text{Hol}(D)\) if \(G_0\) is compact.
