In continuation of previous work [Am. J. Math. 113, No. 3, 423-439 (1991; Zbl 0731.53065)], the author improves an inequality for the integral of \((n-2)\)nd mean curvature \(M^*_{n-2} (W)\) of certain compact sets \(W \subset \mathbb{R}^n\) with smooth boundary (so-called \(M (\infty)\)-compact sets). It is shown that \[ M^*_{n-2} \bigl( K(W)\bigr) \leq M^*_{n-2} (W), \] where \(K(W)\) is the convex hull of \(W\). This also gives a lower bound \(c_n V(K(W))^{{1\over n}}\) for \(M^*_{n-2} (W)\) in terms of the volume of \(K(W)\) and an explicit dimensional constant \(c_n\). For the latter result, a variant is proved for mixed volumes as well.
