Stochastic models of reliability (Q1361026)

The nine articles of this special issue will be reviewed individually. In his preface the editor remembers the great influence of \textit{Volkmar Pieper} who died on May 23, 1996 at the age of 50. The paper by Franz and Magiera on problems in statistics of random processes with applications to failure-repair models will appear in the next issue of this journal due to shortage of space.
