      This paper deals with the problem of a sharp estimation of the ``error-term'' \[ S(r,f)= m(r,f)+ \sum^q_{i=1} m(r,a_i,f) +N_1(r) -2T(r,f) \] in the second fundamental theorem of Nevanlinnas value distribution theory. The main results are estimates for any nonconstant meromorphic function \(f\) of the following form \[ S(r,f)\leq {\overset {+} \log} {\Psi\bigl(T(r,f)\bigr) \over P(r)} +C_0 \tag{1} \] \[ m\left(r, {f'\over f} \right)\leq {\overset {+}\log} {\Psi\bigl(T(r,f)\bigr) \over P(r)} +C_1 \tag{2} \] and \[ N_1(r)- \bigl(T(r,f)+ N(r,f)\bigr) \leq {\overset {+}\log} {\Psi\bigl(T (r,f)\bigr) \over P(r)} +C_1 \tag{3} \] holds for all \(r\) outside some exceptional set \(E\). If \(\psi(t)/t \), \(p(t)\) denote positive, continuous nondecreasing functions in \([1,\infty)\), s.th. \(\int^\infty_1 {dt\over\psi(t)} =\int^\infty_1 {dt\over p(t)} =\infty\), then with \(\Psi(r): =\int^r_1 {dt\over \psi(t)}\), \(P(r)= \int^r_1 {dt\over p(t)}\) it is assumed either \[ \Psi\bigl(T(r,f)\bigr) =O\bigl(T(r,f)\bigr)= O \bigl(P(r)\bigr),\;r\to\infty. \tag{4} \] The exceptional set \(E\) in (1), (2), (3), resp., then has a ``\(p\)-density'' \(\text{dens}_p E\leq\alpha\), \(0<\alpha<1\), or \(\text{dens}_p E=0\), respectively. The author also shows that these estimates are best possible.
