The author studies polyhedra (in Euclidean 3-space) in which faces may be self- intersecting polygons. The article is developed from the observation that the classification of isogonal prisms and antiprisms by \textit{M. Brückner} [``Vielecke und Vielflache''. Teubner, Leipzig (1900)] is confused and incomplete. Since there is no other systematic treatment of the topic, the author develops a background of the theory of polyhedra whose faces may be intersecting polygons. Some general concepts concerning polyhedra with possible self-intersections are presented. The main objective of the article is investigation of isogonal prismatoids. A prismatoid is a polyhedron having all its vertices in two parallel planes. A polyhedron is isogonal if all its vertices form one transitivity class under its isometric symmetries. A complete classification of prisms and antiprisms is obtained. Several other classes of isogonal prismatoids are discussed in some detail. Open questions are discussed at the end of the article.
