The authors consider the local regularity of a CR-map between germs of finite type hypersurfaces in \(\mathbb{C}^2\). Their main result is: Theorem 0.2 Let \(f:\Gamma_1 \to\Gamma_2\) be a non-constant Hölder \(1/2\)-continuous CR-mapping between smooth pseudoconvex hypersurfaces of finite type in \(\mathbb{C}^2\). Let \(p\) be an arbitrary point of \(\Gamma_1\) and \(q= f(p)\). Then there is a neighborhood, \(U\) of \(p\) in \(\mathbb{C}^2\) such that \(f^{-1} (g) \cap U\) is a compact subset of \(\Gamma_1 \cap U\). This allows them to conclude that the extension of \(f\) to the pseudoconvex side of \(\Gamma_1\) is a proper map. Applying results of several authors, they then conclude that \(f\) is \(C^\infty\) and locally finite-to-one. Theorem 0.2 is proved using a scaling technique of Diederich-Fornaess to reduce to the case of domains with algebraic boundaries. The main technical point is to establish uniform Hölder 1/2-estimates for the rescaled maps. So that the boundary behavior of the limiting map reflects that of \(f\). These uniform estimates are obtained by using plurisubharmonic barrier functions constructed using a technique of Fornaess and Sibony.
