Let \(S_k(A)\) denote the \(k\)th principal symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the matrix \(A\) of type \(n\times n\). Consider the equation \[ \sum^n_{i=1} a_iS_i(\text{Hess }f)=0\tag{\(*\)} \] concerning the function \(f:\mathbb{R}^n\to\mathbb{R}\) with continuous coefficient functions \(a_k: \mathbb{R}^n\to\mathbb{R}\) \((1\leq k\leq n)\). The author presents a result on the integer, convex, \(C^2\)-solutions of \((*)\) generalizing a well-known theorem of Jorgens, Calabi and Pogorelov. In particular, he shows that under some further conditions (prescribed asymptotic behavior, quasiconstancy of the coefficients) \(f\) is a linear function.
