For the differential equation in the title with \(\varepsilon>0\) and real \(\omega\), the general solution is constructed both in form of contour integrals of Laplace type and in form of infinite series containing Bessel and Airy functions. As an application, the stability and vibration of long elastic contracted-stretched ponderable rods subject to the boundary conditions \(y(0)=y''(0) =y(L)= y''(L)=0\) are pointed out. Also asymptotic considerations are made with respect to \(\varepsilon\to 0\) and \(L\to\infty\), respectively.
