The authors study Lyapunov stability and Lyapunov asymptotic stability of a set \( X_0\in\mathbb{R}^n\) with respect to the discrete dynamic system \[ x_{k+1}\in F(x_k),\qquad k=0,1,\ldots\;. \] For the special case where the multifunction in the right-hand side is a symmetric fan a criterion of asymptotic stability of the trivial solution is formulated in terms of the spectral radius of a fan mapping. For a multifunction the concept of upper prederivative is introduced. Based on this concept, an analogue of linearization of a nonlinear inclusion is defined and sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability of a nonlinear discrete system are obtained. The stability analysis incorporating the obtained results is applied to systems with the right-hand sides of particular kind: \[ F(x)=\bigcup_{\xi\in\Xi}f(x,\xi), \] where \(\Xi\) is a compact set of parameters and \( f(x,\xi) \) is a differentiable function. An example is given where the results obtained here guarantee asymptotic stability of the invariant set, whereas previously known results cannot give an ultimate answer whether the set is stable or not.
