For \(\alpha >0\), \({\mathcal F}_\alpha\) denotes the set of functions \(g\) on \(\Delta =\{z: |z|<1\}\) such that \(g(z)=\int(1- \overline xz)^{-\alpha} d\mu(x)\) for some complex-valued Borel measure \(\mu\) on the unit circle \(\Gamma\). \(M_\alpha\), the set of multipliers of \({\mathcal F}_\alpha\), is the set of functions \(f\) on \(\Delta\) such that \(fg\) is in \({\mathcal F}_\alpha\) for every \(g\) in \({\mathcal F}_\alpha\). Similar definitions are given for \({\mathcal F}_0\) and \(M_0\). Norms are defined on these spaces, under which they become Banach spaces. The present paper continues the work of the authors and of T. H. MacGregor in studying the growth of \(|f'|\) for \(f\) in \(M_\alpha\). It was known that there is a constant \(C\) such that \(|f'(z) |\leq C |f|_{H_\infty} (1-r)^{-1}\) for \(z\) in \(\Delta\), \(r= |z|\), for all \(f\) in \(M_\alpha \). The authors construct a Blaschke products to show that for \(\alpha>0\), the result is sharp and cannot be improved. They then give an improved bound for \(|f'(z)|\) for \(f\) in \(M_0 \) and show that this bound is sharp. Their third result is that the inequality \[ \int \bigl|g' (re^{it}) \bigr|dt\leq C|g|_{M_1} \biggl[(1-r) \log \bigl(1+ (1/1-r)\bigr) \biggr]^{-1} \] holds for some constant \(C\), each \(r\) in \([0,1)\), and all \(g\) in \(M_1\). This estimate is shown to be sharp by means of a gap series example. The paper concludes with corresponding bounds and sharpness results for \(\{\int \bigl|g'(re^{it} \bigr|^p dt\}^{1/p}\).
