The authors investigate singular Anosov flows \(\varphi\) on closed 3-manifolds. These flows are Anosov flows away from a finite number of singular orbits \(\gamma_1, \dots, \gamma_k\). Moreover, for every \(i\in \{1,\dots,k\}\) the Poincaré-return map at \(\gamma_i\) is a local surface map with an \(m\)-prong singularity, where \(m=1\) or \(m\geq 3\). If every singular orbit is a thorn (i.e., \(m=1)\), then they call \(\varphi\) a \(V\)-Anosov flow. Examples of \(V\)-Anosov flows are geodesic flows on closed 2-dimensional hyperbolic orbifolds. A surgery presentation of the phase space for such flows and the structure of the singular set is given. \(V\)-Anosov flows also exist on the three-sphere \(S^3\). Its singular set can be chosen as a Montesinos link or some 3-manifold admits a finite branched covering over \(S^3\). The authors obtain singular Anosov flows with at most \(\sigma\) singular orbits which are not thorns on every closed 3-manifold.
