The centre of the algebra of a free inverse monoid (Q1365577)

From the authors' preface: A description is given of the centre of the semigroup algebra, over an arbitrary field, of the free inverse monoid on a nonempty set \(X\). It is shown that if \(X\) is infinite then the centre is trivial (consisting of the multiples of the unity), while if \(X\) is finite then the centre has countably infinite dimension. In the second case, a basis for the centre is provided in terms of idempotents of the monoid.
