The authors deal with semisimple Lie groups \(G\) with finite center and all simple factors of real rank at least 2, and a lattice \(\Gamma\subset G\). By imposing a number of additional conditions both on manifolds upon which \(G\) acts and the action, the authors consider so-called standard higher rank group actions, and prove that for the standard actions of higher rank semisimple Lie groups \(G\) and their discrete subgroups \(\Gamma\) on compact manifolds, the entropy is invariant under small perturbations. As a result, they strengthen a result of \textit{R. J. Zimmer} [Ergodic theory and semisimple groups, Monogr. Math., Basel, Vol. 81 (1984; Zbl 0571.58015)] asserting that such entropy for individual elements has only finitely many possibilities.
