Existence and uniqueness theorems are given for first-order differential equations where the right-hand side is not necessarily continuous. Generalized measurability and a generalized Lipschitz condition are assumed. An existence theorem and the maximal interval of existence of the solution are shown by a nonlinear alternative of Granas et al. These results are obtained without using a generalized Lipschitz condition.
