The authors have discussed a parallel repairable model consisting of two units and one repairman. The working time and the repair time of the two units are all exponentially distributed. It is assumed that one unit after repair will be as good as new but the other is not. Further it is assumed that the working time of the one unit is a decreasing geometric process and the repair time is an increasing geometric process. For the second unit both working time and repair time are exponentially and independently distributed random variables. Using supplementary variable technique, a system of difference differential equations is derived and analysed through Laplace transform technique. Some of the reliability characteristics such as availability, reliability, the rate of occurrence of failure and the idle probability of the repairman are analysed. A known particular case when \(a=b=1\) has been deduced.
