In this short note the author constructs finite difference expressions for the spherical wave equation. The proposed method does not require that the analytic solution be known. Furthermore it can be used to obtain the difference expressions for other equations. In addition, if the solution is continuous, the piecewise linearization technique provides piecewise continuous solutions.
