The authors look at exceptional polynomials, which are polynomials over finite fields \(K\) that induce permutations of infinitely many finite extensions of \(K\). They show, among other things, that under a certain hypothesis the associated monodromy groups of exceptional polynomials are severly restricted when the polynomials have degree \(p^{2n}\), where \(p\) is prime and \(n\in \mathbb{N}\).
