We review several examples of thin ligaments of different geometries and loadings for which the limiting behavior of the stress is known analytically and compare with beam theory approximation. Then we show the asymptotic technique in order to handle the series that appear in the solution of ligament problems. Comparison is made between asymptotic results and the numerical evaluation of the series.
