The associated continuous \(q\)-ultraspherical polynomials \(\{C_n^\alpha(x;\beta|q)\}_{n=0}^\infty\) are defined by the three term recurrence relation \[ 2xC_n^\alpha(x;\beta|q)=\frac{1-q^{n+\alpha+1}}{1-\beta q^{n+\alpha}} C_{n+1}^\alpha(x;\beta|q)+\frac{1-\beta^2q^{n+\alpha-1}}{1-\beta q^{n+\alpha}}C_{n-1}^\alpha(x;\beta|q) \] with \(C_{-1}^\alpha(x;\beta|q)=0\) and \(C_0^\alpha(x;\beta|q)=1\). When \(\alpha=0\) these polynomials are the continuous \(q\)-ultraspherical polynomials introduced by L.J. Rogers. The Poisson kernel (or bilinear generating function) for these associated continuous \(q\)-ultraspherical polynomials is obtained, essentially as a product of a \({}_2\phi_1\), a \({}_3\phi_2\), and a \({}_4\phi_3\) basic hypergeometric series. Some other related generating functions are also given. Some of the results were obtained before in an alternative form by Bustoz and Ismail in [\textit{J. Bustoz} and \textit{M. E. H. Ismail}, Can. J. Math. 34, 718-736 (1982; Zbl 0487.33005)]. Most results generalize earlier results for the Poisson kernel for the continuous \(q\)-ultraspherical polynomials obtained by Gasper and Rahman in [\textit{G. Gasper} and \textit{M. Rahman}, SIAM J. Math. Anal. 14, 409-420 (1983; Zbl 0516.33009] and also results obtained by Ismail and Stanton in [\textit{M. E. H. Ismail} and \textit{D. Stanton}, Classical orthogonal polynomials as moments, Can. J. Math. 49, No. 3, 520-542 (1997)].
