The fluid flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid for small influence of fluid inertia leads to the consideration of creeping flow, e.g. in polymer processing, or in thin film coating applications as in the Earth's mantle. With the paper in hand, the numerical as well as analytical solutions of two industrially important flows are presented by using the creeping flow model in streamline-vorticity formulation. Both problems are described by a biharmonic boundary value problem that is solved analytically by means of a truncated expansion in eigenfunctions, and numerically by using linear finite elements.
