Efficient numerical and computational methods and the success of theoretical treatments created a new situation which is advantageous for the foundation of a unified electromagneto-fluid dynamics. Part I of this paper reviews the fundamental quantities of the subject, e.g. the sources of electric fields (charges, polarization) and magnetic fields (polarization and currents). In part II, fundamental laws are discussed from the general point of view of classical electrodynamics, taking into account relations between conservation laws and thermodynamic quantities. Thermoelectric, galvanomagnetic, and thermomagnetic effects are mentioned together with the so-called secondary effects due to non-orthogonality of electric and magnetic fields or due to temperature gradients and magnetic fields. Then the authors discuss the classical electrohydrodynamics and magnetohydrodynamics. In conclusion, the authors caution against an intuitive introduction of different terms, which can lead to incompatibilities and insufficiencies.
