The authors classify all finite-dimensional irreducible rational \(KG\)-modules \(V\), where \(G\) is a connected linear algebraic group over an algebraically closed field \(K\) of characteristic \(p\geq 0\), such that \(G\) has only a finite number of orbits on the set of vectors in \(V\). When \(K=\mathbb{C}\), such modules were classified by \textit{V. G. Kac} [in J. Algebra 64, 190-213 (1980; Zbl 0431.17007)]. Their methods also yield a classification of irreducible \(KG\)-modules \(V\) such that \(G\) has finitely many orbits on the set of \(k\)-dimensional subspaces of \(V\) for some \(k\). One may assume that \(V\) is faithful, and in this case \(G\) must be reductive. If \(K=\mathbb{C}\), a more general classification of all (not necessarily reducible) rational modules \(V\) of reductive algebraic groups \(G\) such that \(G\) has only a finite number of orbits on the set of vectors in \(V\) was obtained in the aforementioned paper by V. Kac (irreducible case) and the paper by \textit{T. Kimura, S.-I. Kasai, O. Yasukura} [Am. J. Math. 108, No. 3, 643-691 (1986; Zbl 0604.20044)] (reducible case). Regarding the classification of all irreducible prehomogeneous vector spaces for \(K=\mathbb{C}\), the authors quote the paper by \textit{M. Sato, T. Kimura} [Nagoya Math. J. 65, 1-155 (1977; Zbl 0337.14037)]. However, this result follows from an earlier and more general classification obtained by \textit{A. G. Elashvili} [Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 6, No. 2, 65-78 (1972; Zbl 0252.22016)]. A short independent proof was also obtained by \textit{G. B. Shpiz} [in Geometric methods in problems of algebra and analysis, Interuniv. Thematic. Work Collect., Yaroslavl' 1978, 152-160 (1978; Zbl 0415.22015)].
