Optimal decompositions of quantum states with respect to entropy (Q1373545)

In order to restore monotonicity in the definition of entropy of a state restricted to a subalgebra, an optimization of the decomposition of the state, depending on the state and on the algebra, was proposed. This paper explores the general structure of these decompositions, finds compatibility relations between their components, and conjectures that they correspond to maximal Abelian subalgebras.
