The book contributes to the application of fuzzy set theory to optimization problems. After two introductory chapters introducing to basic concepts of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, the remaining six chapters deal with particular decision-making methods. Namely, with fuzzy and stochastic PERT, fuzzy SMART, additive and multiplicative analytic hierarchy processes, the ELECTRE systems, fuzzy multi-objective optimization, and with the psychology-related problem of colour perception. Each chapter includes a theoretical presentation and practical examples, and it is completed by a list of references. The book is closed by a subject index. The main contribution of the book consists in a balanced presentation of theoretical approaches and practical applications as well as in representative selection of examples of fuzzy logic applications in the social and the management sciences.
