The main result of the paper is the following theorem: Let \(g\in C^1([0,1]^2)\), \(C\) be the Cantor set. Suppose that there exist \(x_0,y_0\in C\) such that \(D_1g(x_0,y_0)\neq 0\), \(D_1g(x_0,y_0)\neq 0\) and one of the following conditions holds: (i) \(|D_1g(x_0,y_0)/D_2g(x_0,y_0)|\neq 3^n\) for each \(n\in Z\), (ii) \((x_0,y_0)\) is the location of a local extremum of the function \(D_1g/D_2g\). Then \(g(C,C)\) contains an interval.
