This paper addresses the dimensional reduction method for solving boundary value problems of the Helmholtz equation, including: some eigenvalue problems which correspond to the Helmholtz equation, the existence for the exact solution, the existence for the reduced solution, the analysis of the modelling error between the exact solution and the ordered solution in \(H^1\), and some numerical examples to compare the theoretical estimate.
