    Let \({\mathfrak A}\) and \({\mathfrak B}\) be Banach spaces and let operators \(L,M\in{\mathcal L}({\mathfrak A},{\mathfrak B})\). There are considered the \(L\)-resolvent set \(\rho^L(M)= \{\mu\in \mathbb{C}:(\mu L-M)^{-1}\in{\mathcal L}({\mathfrak A},{\mathfrak B})\}\) and the \(L\)-spectrum \(\sigma^L(M)= \mathbb{C}\setminus\rho^L(M)\) of \(M\), where it is assumed that \(\ker L\neq\{0\}\) and hence \(\infty\in \sigma^L(M)\). \(M\) is said to be \((L,\sigma)\)-bounded if \[ \exists {a>0} \forall {\mu\in \mathbb{C}}(|\mu|> a)\Rightarrow (\mu\in \rho^L(M)). \] The point \(\infty\) is a removable singularity of the \(L\)-resolvent \(R\) of \(M\) if \(R\equiv\mathbb{O}\), a pole of order \(p\in\mathbb{N}\) if \(R^p\neq\mathbb{O}\) and \(R^{p+ 1}\equiv\mathbb{O}\) and an essential singularity if \(R^q\neq \mathbb{O}\) for all \(q\in\mathbb{N}\). There are given several necessary and sufficient conditions for operators \(L\), \(M\) to be \((L,\sigma)\)-bounded and to have a removable singularity, in particular, for \(M\) to be a Fredholm operator.
