The propagation of electromagnetic waves is treated here within the framework of the electron-optical Kerr effect approximation: modulation of radiation under the influence of an external electric field caused by the changes in the optical properties of the medium. The proof of the existence of eigenwaves (and their calculations) is carried out by reduction to the Cauchy problem.
