Factorized regional additive schemes for convection/diffusion problems (Q1375010)

We discuss the problem of the application of decomposition methods to general evolutionary problems with nonselfadjoint operators. We construct factorized schemes and establish their unconditional stability and convergence for a model convection/diffusion problem. For problems with a minimal superposition of subdomains, we obtain an estimate of \(O(\tau|h|^{-1/2})\) type for the error of an approximate solution, where \(\tau\) and \(h\) are the time and space steps of a grid, respectively.
