A new form of a generalized continuity, called strong \(\beta\)-continuity, is introduced. A subset \(A\) of a topological space \(X\) is said to be a strong \(\beta\)-set if \(A = U \cap F\), where \(U\) is open and \(F\) is a semi-closed \(Q\)-set. The class of strong \(\beta\)-sets is properly placed between the classes of open and \(\beta\)-sets. A function \(f\) from a topological space \(X\) to a topological space \(Y\) is said to be strongly \(\beta\)-continuous if for every open set \(V\) in \(Y\), \(f^-(V)\) is a strong \(\beta\)-set in \(X\). The following decomposition of continuity is given: Let \(f\) be a function from a topological space \(X\) to a topological space \(Y\). Then \(f\) is continuous if and only if \(f\) is semi-continuous and strongly \(\beta\)-continuous.
