The author gives a geometric construction of irreducible unitary representations associated to a minimal nilpotent coadjoint orbit of a simple simply connected algebraic Lie group defined over a local field \(k\). He follows the construction given by \textit{M. Duflo} [Acta Math. 149, 153-213 (1982; Zbl 0529.22011)] for the description of the unitary dual of quasi-algebraic groups. If the \(k\)-range of the group \(G\) is greater or equal to 3 the resulting representation given by this method is minimal. Moreover, for the real case the infinitesimal annihilator of the representation is a completely prime ideal with Gelfand-Kirillov dimension equal to the dimension of the minimal orbit. For the \(p\)-adic case the result was already known for certain groups by \textit{G. Savin} [Invent. Math. 118, 141-160 (1994; Zbl 0858.22015)]. To do this construction the author defines the notion of admissibility of a nilpotent coadjoint orbit for a quasi-algebraic Lie group \(G\) over a local field, generalizing the one given for the real case by Duflo. For a given nilpotent orbit \(O\) the condition of admissibility at the element \(\lambda\) in \(O\) is a representation of metaplectic extension of the stabilizer of \(\lambda\) in \(G\) that takes the value \(-1\) over the nontrivial element in the kernel of the extension. These representations depend only on the orbit \(O\) and they are finite dimensional. They are all determined in this paper. The complete proofs are only given for the \(p\)-adic case; the real one was essentially treated by \textit{R. Brylinski} and \textit{B. Kostant} [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 91, 6026-6029 (1994; Zbl 0803.58023)].
